To reach the main objectives of ZINEG the research work is separated to four research assignments:

• closed greenhouse with utilization an overdue of solar energy
• closed greenhouse with maximum thermal insulation, utilization of solar energy and integration programs for ornamental crops
• plastic greenhouse with maximum thermal insulation and neutral carbon dioxide heating
• greenhouse with low-emissivity glass

During the term of ZINEG a cooperation of the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and the Center for Business Management in Horticulture and Applied Research in Hanover work on an economic evaluation of the complete system in connection to an ecological assessment based on mass and energy balances.
